Strong winds and heavy rain cause chaos in Boksburg

The city took a battering from heavy rains and strong winds over the weekend, leaving roads and homes in ruins

Heavy rains combined with strong winds have caused flooding and uprooted trees across large parts of Boksburg.

The low-lying area under the railway bridge on Hospital Road, in Plantation, was also transformed into a dam by the torrential downpours, which began on Saturday afternoon. The affected areas included Plantation, van Dyk Park and Farrar Park, Cinderella, Boksburg North and and Boksburg East.

Another massive tree was uprooted in van Dyk Park, due to the heavy downpours combined with strong winds. Members of the Community Patrollers Initiative (CPI)made it their mission to remove the felled tree in the area.
