The unfinished project to fix the stretch of road at the corner of Du Preez and Haupt streets, in Delmore Park, has become a frustration for residents.
According to residents, the contractor who was appointed by the metro to fix 13 damaged roads in August has apparently failed to finish fixing the aforementioned stretch of road.
Ward 33 councillor Ashley Hoods said the incomplete piece of road has not been worked on for about two months now.
“I asked the contractors why the project was not completed, and they told me that it was due to a dispute over payments. When disputes happen between contractors and the metro, the community shouldn’t be stuck in the middle. They shouldn’t receive poor service delivery,” Hoods said.
Veronica Nunn, who uses the road daily between her home and workplace, expressed her disappointment at the state of the road abandoned by the contractor.
“The damaged road puts our lives and cars at risk daily. We hope that this matter will be addressed soon, because taxpayers shouldn’t be made to suffer like this,” Nunn said.

Hoods told the Advertiser that the contractor promised him that they will complete the road on November 11, but they supposedly couldn’t because of the rain.
The Advertiser is awaiting comment from the roads department.
