The stretch of road on the corner of Du Preez and Haupt streets, in Delmore Park, has been fixed.
The incomplete piece of road, which caused inconvenience for residents, had not been worked on for about two months.
Frustrated residents said the contractor, who was appointed by the metro to fix 13 damaged roads in August, had apparently failed to finish fixing the aforementioned stretch of road.
According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, the road was finally completed on November 13.
“The City was aware of the problem. The contractor was instructed by the municipality to clean the rubble which had been excavated before he could continue fixing the road.”
Gadebe said the reason the contractor took time to fix the incomplete road was because of violent protests in Tokyo Sexwale informal settlement.
“The supplier of the asphalt for the project was, therefore, reluctant to transport along this route. Metro police had to escort the trucks for a few days but, unfortunately, due to other responsibilities they had to stop this service, which delayed the project,” Gadebe said.
