Boksburg Correctional officers donate blood
Members of the SANBS encouraged the officials to continue donating blood.
In their efforts to save lives, officials from the Boksburg Correctional Services donated blood on June 17 during the prison’s blood drive initiative.
This initiative, which was held for the second time this year at the prison, attracted 27 officials.
According to Sello Modise, Boksburg Correctional Services spokesperson, a total of 23 usable units of blood was donated to SANBS to make a difference in saving lives of people who desperately need blood.
Boksburg Correctional Services manager for special programmes Ronald Nhlapo stated the partnership between SANBS and the prison is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of donating blood.
Terrance Pillay, donor relations practitioner at the SANBS, expressed gratitude to all officials who came through to support the cause.
“We hope in the months to come we can build and increase the participation of the correctional officials, as their participation will make a huge difference in the blood supply within our area,” said Pillay.
