Car boot sale and craft market cancelled until further notice

Following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement on June 27 to move the country from lockdown level three to level four as part of the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the Boksburg Advertiser Car Boot Sale and the Bokkie Park Craft Market have been halted until further notice.

Elize Kluyts of the Boksburg Advertiser Car Boot Sale said: “Unfortunately, as per governments regulations, we have ceased the car boot sale events. We advise our exhibitors to keep an eye out for our newspaper, Facebook and website to find out when things will be back in full swing. We hope to see our vendors soon.”

Bokkie Park Food and Craft Market organiser Janine Richardson said: “With regards to lockdown level four, although it was not gazetted that the market was to close because it is regarded as outdoor retail rather than a gathering, we felt it was best to do so.

“Unfortunately, it is a very difficult time for many of the crafters as they rely on the markets for income. With the high rate of infection in Gauteng, it is not worth exposing anybody to Covid-19. We are waiting for the next address before we can decide when to open again.”
