The Boksburg Food Lover’s Market in North Rand Road is a year old on Heritage Day (September 24).
Senior manager Dean Sassmann said it has been a year of learning and consistent improvement for the team as they got to know their shoppers’ wants and needs even better.
“We have listened to our customers and taken all comments and suggestions, negative and positive, on board. I believe we have grown in and with the community of Boksburg,” he said.
He added they are still attracting new customers daily and are experiencing good interaction with customers on Facebook and Instagram.
Giving back to the community will continue to be a strong focus for the team and various charities have already benefited from support and donations from in-store initiatives.
The store has contributed to job creation too and now has a staff complement of 260.
“Where we are located was always the ideal location and perfect fit for the Food Lover’s brand; there is synergy with the community,” Sassmann said.
“Our aim in opening the store in North Rand Road was to uplift the community by offering a quality shopping experience with more variety and accessibility.”

They have hit the mark well with the growth of their speciality counters, offering everything from sushi to loaves of bread, confectionery, ready-made meals, paninis and shawarmas, and also offer full function catering ‘to take the burden off’, as Sassmann said.
“Covid-19 protocols continue to be strictly enforced, including the washing of trollies once a week. We urge our customers to support us in our efforts by wearing a mask properly in store, maintaining social distancing and sanitising.”
An exciting addition to their offering is home deliveries within a 5km radius of the store soon. Shoppers will be able to place orders via Whatsapp.
