#VoomaVaccinationWeekends: Mayor Masina gets his second jab

The mayor said he is hoping that a total of 2.7 million of the population of the City of Ekurhuleni would be vaccinated.

The City of Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina took the lead in the Vooma Vaccinate Weekend drive when he took his second jab of the Pfizer vaccine at the DH Williams Hall in Katlehong.

President Cyril Ramaphosa launched the programme at the hall on October 1.
Members of his mayoral committee, MMC Makhosazana Maluleke and Lesiba Mpya, took advantage of the opportunity to get their jabs.

The drive is a government programme aimed at accelerating the speed at which vaccines are administered to as many people in South Africa as possible before the start of the anticipated Covid-19 fourth wave.

According to Ramaphosa, over 8.6 million people are fully vaccinated, which is more than one-fifth of the adult population, and to date over 17 million vaccine doses have been administered in the country.

“I was due to take my second jab of Pfizer vaccine on October 13, but when the president announced that we all need to make sure that we are fully vaccinated against the deadly virus, I decided to do the right thing and take it much earlier.
“I’m glad that some of the members of the mayoral committee also took the vaccine,” said Masina.

The mayor said he was hoping that a total of 2.7 million of the population of the City of Ekurhuleni would be vaccinated.
