Sunward Park resident irked about blocked stormwater drains
"The problem was also reported to our ward councillor and I understand that she escalated the issue.”
A resident feels his complaints about blocked stormwater drains in the vicinity of Oberon Road are falling on deaf ears.
According to the resident, the matter has been reported to the metro to no avail.
“Due to these drains both being blocked, and they have been blocked for years, we have severe stormwater problems every time there is a thunderstorm.
“The stormwater coming down Tosca Road has nowhere to go because of these blocked drains, and then jumps the pavement at the T-junction and floods my property in Oberon Road and about two of my neighbours’ properties as well.
“During the storm on December 28, the stormwater problem was so severe that all three homes flooded inside, damaging our property and furniture, floors and boundary walls.
“The metro did come out, however, the problem is not fixed. I also wanted to put up a structure like a wall on my pavement to prevent the water from coming into my property, but the metro said I’m not allowed.
“The problem was also reported to our ward councillor and I understand that she escalated the issue.”
The Advertiser is still awaiting comment from the metro.
