Portia Ntombela, of Brackenhurst, is the new proud owner of a Toyota Urban Cruiser, thanks to West Pack Lifestyle.
West Pack Lifestyle sponsored the car as a prize for The Shuffling Walking Team’s annual Cancer Charity Fundraiser.
Ntombela was announced as the winner during a live raffle draw at West Pack Lifestyle East Rand Value Mall on October 23 after entering a competition run by the Shuffling Walking Team.
During the draw, Jan Balt’s name was called out first, but he then decided to let the team redraw another name and that’s when Ntombela’s name was picked.
Ntombela expressed excitement during the handover of the car at the store.
She said the car will assist her to move around and to travel to hospital to collects her husband’s medication. Her husband was diagnosed with stroke nine years ago.
“It is an honour for me to win this big prize. I would like to thank Jan Balt for making it possible for me to win the prize,” she said.
The Shuffling Walk Team is a group that creates awareness of cancer in communities, and they raise funds for their cancer charities, including Stepping Stone Hospice.
Maria da Silva of The Shuffling Walk Team thanked the National Lotteries Commission and Café Estreito for their continued support.
