Join Insimbi’s volunteer programme
The volunteers will help to protect rhinos while being mentored by a qualified guide.
Would you like to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the African bushveld while contributing directly to the protection of the rhino?
Then you should join the Insimbi Legacy Project’s volunteer programme. The organisation’s reservation is situated in Limpopo.
“By joining our volunteer programme, you will be putting boots on the ground, which has shown to make a difference in keeping our rhino safe against poachers. In the last decade, over 10 000 rhino have been poached,” said Sharon Janse van Rensburg, local businesswoman and brand ambassador of the Insimbi Legacy Projects.
“Michelle Hurley, our qualified field guide and rhino monitor, will be your mentor. You will learn how to become part of the bush, spending your days finding our rhino on foot with the use of Telemery equipment and tracking skills.
“Volunteers are also shown how to use and download our camera traps, which are an essential part of our security measures. You will also get a glimpse into the secret lives of our wildlife.
“Furthermore, you will learn about other amazing animals and plants we have on the reserve, camp out under the stars, participate in night patrols, possibly catch a glimpse of night creatures, such as the leopard and brown hyena, and help with any farm work that needs to be done,”
South Africans can join this programme for R500 per night.
Volunteers will have their own room, kitchenette and en suite. There is a two- or three-week option. Volunteers must be between the ages of 16 and 65.
