About 400 people join cancer walk in Reiger Park

Members of the Reiger Park Cancer Support Group held a successful cancer fun run and walk in the community on October 6.

The event was organised by Sydney Chipitura, in memory of his wife Geraldine and all those who succumbed to cancer. Other members of the support group, Gaynor Botha and Ursula Bell, helped him to organise the event.

The main objective of the event was to create cancer awareness and raise funds for the support group.

Botha described the event as a success and said they managed to raise about R12 000 for the support group.

“About 400 people marched through Reiger Park and we’re delighted about the support. It’s a blessing that so many people came out.
“Speakers at the event included people like Bishop Wayne Ballakistin, Iggy Ling, Erna Botha, Audrey Eustace and Past Dennis Bell,” said Botha.

Chairperson of the Reiger Park Cancer Support Group Ulita Billings said: “Our sincere thanks and gratitude to Sydney and the community for your support. It is highly appreciated. We give God all the glory, praise and honour for a blessed day and successful event.
“We believe one shouldn’t walk this journey alone. We walk it hand in hand and heart to heart together.”
