A Freeway Park couple who annually decorates their house with beautiful Christmas lights organised the initiative. They decided to invite the public to view the lights on a booking basis under the banner of The Masked House.

Apart from the Christmas lights, attendees met Legacy and 7de Laan actor Andre Lotter, and children enjoyed the snow machine. “About 52 people supported the initiative and it was definitely a success.

We didn’t expect so many people because of Covid-19 and bookings are still looking good.

“We had to cancel the event on Sunday due to the weather. Those who bought tickets for that event rescheduled for the following weekend. Members of the public can then also look forward to meeting Santa.

“I would like to thank the Boksburg SPCA, Nellie from the food truck and the Boksburg Advertiser,” said one of the organisers, who wished to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile, on December 10, the legendary Lizz Meiring will grace the event.

Other Christmas Garden Lights events will take place at 84 Constantia Road, Freeway Park, on December 12 and December 17 to 19. The events will start at 19:00 to 22:00 on these dates.

“We are pleased that they have nominated the Boksburg SPCA as their beneficiary, as all funds will go into our Christmas Cheer Fund,” Sue Beadon of the Boksburg SPCA previously said.
