19 New Year’s babies for Tambo Memorial
Six boys and 13 girls came into the world on New Years Day.
Tambo Memorial Hospital CEO Zenzo Ndabula confirmed the hospital welcomed 19 healthy babies, six males and 13 females, into the world on New Year’s Day.
Keabetswe Mthabela was the first baby delivered at Tambo Memorial in 2022. The baby girl, born at 01:00, weighed 3.09kg.
Her mother, Nompilo Mthabela from Wattville, said she is overjoyed about the birth of her first child.
The MMC for Health and Social Development, Charlotte Zitha, and health department officials presented 19 gift hampers at different health facilities, including Tambo Memorial Hospital, to welcome the newest citizens of the city.
Congratulating the mothers on the arrival of their newborns, Zitha emphasised the importance of caregivers adhering to the road to health chart (RTHC).
“The RTHC is very important in ensuring caregivers raise healthy babies. The booklet has important schedules that guide guardians on when to take their children for immunisation, which is important to help your child become immune (protected) from diseases,” she explained.
