Smiles all round at Dawn Park Primary on the first day of ‘big school’
The new recruits were confident and full of joy.
Grade One learners at Dawn Park Primary School were overjoyed as they carried their school bags around the premises on January 12, when all the government schools in Gauteng re-opened.
The joy was also visible in the faces of teachers, principal of the school JV Motaung, deputy principal Eddie Maseko and the new learners’ parents.
One of the mothers, Nontebeko Mashele of Grade One learner Amahle (6), said she is excited to see her child going to Grade One at Dawn Park Primary.
She further disclosed that Amahle’s cousin attends the school and she is exceptionally good academically, which is why she decided to enrol her daughter.
Amahle said she is excited to be at school because her best friend, Mahlonolo Sekati, has also enrolled at school and they are both in the same grade.
“I’m happy to be at Dawn Park Primary because my friend is here with me. I want to learn how to read novels and English language books.
“My primary goal is to study, so can be a doctor in the future,” she told the Advertiser.
Another Grade One, Kahlala Mathebulam said she is happy to start school and wants to be a chef in the future.
