50 years of wedded bliss for Atlasville couple
Their advice to young couples: “Help each other inside and outside the house, upbringing of children and to work wise with their money."
Lovebirds Estelle (71) and Martin de Kock (69) from Atlasville celebrated their golden anniversary (50 years) on January 8.
The couple tied the knot at the Dutch Reformed Church in Primrose/Firsherhill on January 8 in 1972 and have been happily married ever since.
The couple explained the secret of being together for such a long time is having respect for each other, being caring and patient and enduring together through all life’s ups and downs
They have been blessed with two children, Chantelle Deyzel (49) and Martin (Jnr) de Kock (43), and three grandchildren, Eugene and Francois Deyzel and Matthew de Kock.
“It was love at first sight when they met through my mother’s sister. We really give all the praise to our Heavenly Father for sparing them for such and long time and blessing them with His grace.
“They have been living in Atlasville for over 35 years now and are pensioners. They enjoy gardening, cooking, reading and going to church. My mom bakes the best chocolate cake in town and my dad makes fabulous biltong,” said Chantelle.
Their advice to young couples: “Help each other inside and outside the house, upbringing of children and to work wisely with their money. Communicate well about all aspects of life. A lot of marriages fail due to the inability to effectively manage finances and people giving up on each other too easily when things do not go their way. True love endures a lot,” said the couple.
To celebrate their anniversary, the couple went out for a special dinner.
