Post a Can aims to reach more people
A group of friends initiated the project to assist charity organisations during the pandemic by collecting necessities for them.
The Post a Can/Sandwich initiative is excited to announce that it will still collect necessities for NPOs, just not the same way as the last two years.
Volunteers from the initiative will no longer be physically collecting necessities for NPOs at the SPAR on Rietfontein Road on the first Saturday of every month as per usual.
One of the volunteers, Natalina da Conceicao, explained that, instead, they will now place a box at SPAR in the future so that community members can donate as they please.
“We’re trying to get more businesses involved so that we can put more boxes where people can donate non-perishable food.
“While we’re waiting for our box, members of the community who want to donate can contact us. We’ll deliver their donation or provide them with a list of charities they support.
“Those who want to donate items such clothing can also contact us.”
The organiser expressed her gratitude to the community for helping them make the project successful.
“The support from the community has been amazing. We would like to thank everybody who supported us. We couldn’t have done it without their assistance. Last year was a good year for us and are excited about 2022 and our new venture,” she added.
