Fun-filled event at Ridgeview Retirement Village
The residents enjoyed the event and won prizes.
The Methodist Home’s Ridgeview Retirement Village hosted a fun-filled prize day event on January 27 in celebration of the New Year.
Manager of the retirement village Julie Koster described the event as a success.
“It was a lovely mild summers day, which meant we could hold our event on the lawns at our village with the idea of keeping everyone safe in the fresh air.
“Every resident drew a number and was given the chance to choose their prize. Prizes were donated by various supporters of our village. There were gift vouchers from East Rand Mall, Rebel Fruit and Veg and Elephant Whispers.
“Furthermore, a hamper with items such as chocolates was donated by Northpoint SPAR. The supermarket also donated a cake,” said the manager.
She highlighted the music was supplied by a regular visitor, Gary Coton, whose parents also stay in the village.
“Gary volunteered to come and play for us on this special day. He soon had everyone clapping and toe-tapping to his songs. We even saw some jiving from our residents.
“All in all, it was a well-deserved event after a long period of lockdown due to the pandemic,” added Koster.
Esther Becker, manager of Northpoint SPAR, explained they decided to host the event as a way to thank the village for supporting its store.
