Parade and fiesta spread love
Boksburg’s The GAY Club SA’s love parade and fiesta party on February 26 proved to be a success.
According to Justin Minnaar, one of the organisers, approximately 500 people supported the event.
“We’re happy with the outcome. We would have liked more attendance, but as they say, we need to learn how to crawl before we run,” said Minnaar.
DJs Jason Rebel, Soné Joubert and Armand Joubert kept the attendees entertained. Performances by drag queens Miss Angelina Grey, Miss Nicole F Jones, Krystal Methany and Nicki Supreme kept the crowd on its feet.
“The performances from our in house queens, the drag divas and local artists were amazing. It was wonderful to see a variety of performances of all shapes, colours and walks of life performing on one stage and sharing their love for the LGBTQIA+ community,” said Minnaar.
Another highlight of the event was that attendees took to the streets near North Road and took part in a love parade.
“I believe we need to diversify more. We’re a community filled with a multitude of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs and it’s always good to have representation to show unity in our diversity,” added Minnaar.
