NPO Huis Samaritaan in Sky Street shared a wish list and is appealing to the community to support the organisation.
It includes activity books, printer paper, long-life milk, brown sugar, a fridge and second-hand items such as toys, appliances and clothing.
Furthermore, the organisation needs a permanent monthly sponsor for a teacher’s salary (R4 000) as well a permanent sponsor for petrol.
According to Huis Samaritaan CEO Mari Russel, the organisation gives out food parcels daily and warm meals three times a week.
“In our 25 years of serving our community, we also started a free pre-school for the children in our impoverished area. We feel every child has the right to education.
“We survive only by grace and the kind donations from the public, since we do not receive any government funding. Huis Samaritaan is tax-registered and able to give anyone who contributes to the organisation a tax exemption form to the value of their donation as a write-off on their tax towards charity,” she explained.
