Food drive helps animals in need

All collected items were handed over to the Boksburg SPCA.

On March 12, Benoni-based KW Clockwork Properties held a pet food collection drive to help the local SPCA provide for their furry friends.

During the event, held at the corner of Elizabeth and Leith roads, people arrived and dropped off blankets, cans and bags of pet food, as well as other basic necessities.
Although the drive was described as a quiet day, which didn’t reach the expected outcome, one of the event organisers, Monica Chantal Caxucho, thanked the few citizens who came to support them in their charity drive.

Caxucho said the low turnout on Saturday did not discourage the team from hosting similar events in the future.

“As KW Clockwork Properties, we are excited and enjoy holding these drives to support our local animal welfare organisations in their efforts to help animals in need.
“We are planning to hold other food collection drives in the future, and we are appealing to businesses and community members to contribute towards our upcoming food drives by donating food and blankets for the animals.”
