Trolley dashes boost local charity organisations
Pick n Pay Towers is pleased with the outcome of the trolley dashes.
Four local charities recently benefitted from Pick and Pay Towers’ four fun-filled trolley dashes.
As part of the store’s commitment to assist the community, the store donated vouchers to the same value as the items the lucky customers managed to get into their trolley during the trolley dashes.
The charity organisations that will benefit from the trolley dashes are Boksburg SPCA, Boksburg Child Welfare, Cosmos Old Age Home and Home-Start. The organisations were decided on by the Advertiser and Pick n Pay Towers.
Between the four shoppers, they managed to grab items to the value of about R12 700 and the vouchers were handed over to them at Pick n Pay Towers.
The trolley dashes took place on April 23, April 30, May 7 and May 14, at the store. It was also the first time the store did a trolley dash.
According to store owner Antoni Rangousis, the objective of the event is to bring fun to their customers, and help those in need in the local community.
He explained that anybody could enter the trolley dash by handing in a till slip throughout the weeks. In a lucky draw (on the dates above), one customer was selected to take part in the trolley dash. Those four people had a minute grab as many items as they could.
“Pick and Pay is part of the Boksburg community and we assist where we can. So, if we can help local charity organisations, all the better,” said Rangousis.
Rangousis described the trolley dashes as a success.
“We’re pleased with the outcome of the trolley dashes. It was fun and we’re happy that we could give back to the community,” he added.
Annelette Bezuidenhout from Caxton Local Media said: “We would like to thank Pick n Pay Towers for their generous donation towards the charity organisations. We’re happy to see a local business assisting these worthy causes. The contribution will go a long way,” Bezuidenhout said.
Pick and Pay Towers has been in operation for 27 years and was one of the first franchises in South Africa.
“Offering the best service to our customers is of utmost importance to us,” Rangousis said.
