Boksburg beauty shines as first princess of Miss Teen Southern Africa

Alicia was crowned as the first princess of Miss Teen Southern Africa Pageant.

Boksburg High School learner Alicia Bhila was virtually crowned as first princess of the Miss Teen Southern Africa Pageant recently.

Bhila was one of 27 finalists from across the country competing for the title.

The 16-year-old beauty from Dawn Park said she is no stranger to the pageantry world, as this was her second time competing.

“I always had a passion for modeling. I’m excited to start the journey because I’m ready to work.
“I understand that having a title like this requires me to help out in communities, which is something I enjoy doing,” said Bhila.

Bhila pointed out that she entered the competition to empower girls, particularly those who are self-conscious about their appearance.

“I used to be self-conscious myself, but that narrative has shifted, which is what I want for others,” she said.
Bhila added she is planning to start her own pageant that will be open to both genders.
“Society views modeling as exclusively feminine, so I want to accommodate both girls and boys and help them grow.”
