Local celebrates her 100th birthday
The retirement village resident is still active and sharp-minded.
Lill Mallett, who was born in 1922, celebrated her 100th birthday at Alan Woodrow Park Retirement Village in Boksburg on July 12.
Mallett’s daughter, Wendy Nortje, said although her mother has reached her 100th birthday, she is still full of life, strong and sharp minded.
“My mother has a lot of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and God has kept her here on earth to be with them. We love her and we hope she will live for many more years,” said Nortje.
“She was born in Boksburg, but in 1936 moved to Nigel then Springs. Mom decided to return to her hometown when she realised she was ageing.”
Lill said she is very happy to be celebrating 100 years because she did not think she would reach this age.
“It’s a pleasure for me to see my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You can reach this age if you look after yourself and lead a healthy life,” she said.
