#MandelaDay: Out & About Restaurant reaches out to hungry animals
The much-needed donations will then be handed over to the animal society.
The Parkrdand-based Out & About Restaurant hosted an almost day-long fundraiser and pet food drive in support of the Boksburg SPCA on July 17.
During the event, held under the theme ‘SPCA Boksburg Madiba Day Give-a-Bark Carnival’, patrons and members of the wider community were encouraged to make monetary donations or drop off pet food and other basic necessities at the restaurant located at 99 Langenhoven Street.
“To celebrate the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela, we decided to hold this initiative to make a difference in the many vulnerable animals’ lives at the SPCA. This also serves as our way of giving back to the community,” said one of the event organisers, Kerry Foley.
Supporters and their children also had the opportunity to celebrate, with numerous activities, DJ performance, a magician and clown, enjoyed popcorn, candy floss, a jumping castle, delicious food and other activities.
