Geppetto-Kids gives a young disabled boy groceries, clothes
Geppetto Pre-School and Day Care Centre donated a wheelchair to the disabled boy Jyzeal van Wyk before donating groceries and clothes to him on Mandela Day.
The Geppetto-Kids Pre-School and Day Care Centre held a soup kitchen early in the morning and donated clothes and non-perishable food to a young disabled boy that attends the centre on July 18.
The pre-school and day care centre also gave vegetable packs to the residents of Delmore Park. The grandmother of the handicapped boy, Dorothy Rossouw, said she feels blessed that her grandchild received groceries and clothes.
“I wish my grandchild all the best and I know that with the support he receives at the Geppetto-Kids he will be educated and work one day. I would like to thank them and the other stakeholders for this good gesture.
“Their good deeds mustn’t end here with us, but they must continue doing what they have done for my grandchild for others.”
The principal of centre, Veronica Nunn, said they donated the groceries and clothes to the boy because they are aware of his challenges. After all, he attends their pre-school and day care centre.
“We did all the charity work as part of celebrating the legacy and birthday of our anti-apartheid stalwart Nelson Mandela.
“He has taught us that people can succeed if they work together. We as Geppetto-Kids know that it is important to take care of the people in our community because we are operating as an organisation because of them. We wouldn’t be here without them,” said Nunn.
