Drug awareness day to take place in Van Dyk Park

Drugs detroy young people in Van Dyk Park.

Passion in Action (PIA), in partnership with the EMPD K9 Unit, Victory Outreach Home East Rand and Central Bikers Church, will be hosting a drug awareness day at the Choppies Shopping Centre in Van Dyk Park on August 6.

Jenny Blomerus, one of the founders of PIA, said they want to educate the public about the dangers of drugs.

“We want our community members to know that it is better to decline taking drugs, and those who are currently using them to know there’s help. Residents of Van Dyk Park are also affected by drugs, especially the young people.

“Stopping drug abuse is a subject close to my heart. This is the first initiative of this kind in Van Dyk Park and we hope it will yield good results.”
