Gallery: Trees planted at Lakeside Primary to celebrate Heritage Day

Grade Five and Seven learners helped to plant the trees.

In an effort to reduce global warming and celebrate Heritage Day, volunteers from the Animal Wildlife Rangers planted an avocado and pear avocado tree at Lakeside Primary School on September 22.

Dressed in their Heritage Day attire, Grade Five and Seven learners helped to plant the trees.

Junior game ranger Junaid Hendricks explained that the tree planting was part of his and fellow junior game ranger, Mohammed Aadil Laal’s first assignment.

“The reason I chose Lakeside Primary School is because I’m a former learner and I wanted to give back to the school and environment. I’m very interested in plants and animals. We started a green house at home,” said the Reiger Park resident.

He encouraged community members to look after the environment by recycling and driving less.
