WATCH: Masonic Heritage Festival supports cerebral palsy patients

All profits made from the sale of an array of goods in the various market stalls will go to aid the work of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of SA.

The Benoni High Pipe Band had the crowd vibing to its beautiful tunes during the parade.

Scores of people descended on Boksburg South to support the second annual Masonic Heritage Festival held to benefit people living with cerebral palsy (CP).

The day-long fun-filled festival, organised by the Freemasons of the Tirmochree Lodge in Boksburg, was held at the Masonic Hall on Jubilee Road on Saturday, September 23.
The event featured a masonic parade, food stalls, markets, a bar, live music performance, children’s entertainment, a performance by the Benoni High Pipe Band and many other activities.
According to the event organisers, the donations and all profits made from the sale of an array of goods in the various market stalls will go to aid the work of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of SA, which provides much-needed services to CP patients.

A representative of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of SA was also on hand to give advice and share information on the service the association provides. Attendees also had the opportunity to drop monetary donations in a drop box.

Irish mason John Flatcher-Coxen thanked all those who supported the initiative.
“Thank you, Malcome Engles and the Benoni High School Pipe Band for making the march a huge success. Without you, the march would not have been as great as it was.
“I would like to thank the Boksburg Advertiser for being at the Heritage Day festival and taking photos of the event. It is people like you that make our charity work so enjoyable. We would like to thank you on behalf of our charity beneficiary.
“We also thank EMPD’s Superintendent Marius Lubber-Lowe and Constable Monique Jansen. The Boksburg metro police were just the very best.”

The organisers had not yet quantified the amount of money raised at the time of going to press.

This Sunward Park’s Smith family, Isabel Smith and her husband Bill both 84 and have been married for the past 61 years, said they had some good time at the heritage festival. They were pictured with their daughter Colleen.

“We also attended the previous event and we had a good time like today. Oh, what lovely weather outside with lots of fun and beautiful people here,” said Isabel, who also came with her daughter Colleen and son-in-law Bill Rice.
