The Boksburg SAPS celebrated Women’s Month by conducting the anti-crime operation Operation Basadi, led entirely by female officers, on August 30.
According to the spokesperson of the police station, Sergeant Ntsako Ledwaba, the operation was a collaborative effort between station commander Colonel Matshidiso Mbele, Vispol commander Colonel Lushandry Govender, support head Colonel Badelisile Ndwandwe, and various SAPS members and stakeholders.
“The first phase of the operation involved a roadblock in the Angelo informal settlement. Officers stopped and searched cars and encouraged motorists to prioritise safety and report any suspicious vehicles.”

Ledwaba said the women in blue continued the operation by doing a crime awareness campaign, engaging with the community one-on-one and empowering them with valuable information.
“Women were urged to keep track of their children’s whereabouts and informed that there is no waiting period to report a missing child.
“The community expressed appreciation for the operation, predominantly led by women,” said Ledwaba.

The sergeant said the successful operation demonstrated the dedicated women in law enforcement’s role in maintaining law and order and ensuring community safety and security.
