In line with the annual 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign, the Community of Hope Multipurpose Centre, in Reiger Park has announced an array of activities to promote awareness, healing and empowerment.

This global campaign, which runs from November 25 to December 10, aims to galvanise action against violence in all its forms.

The centre, renowned for its essential support services, will offer a comprehensive programme of events which will run until the 10th.

These include counselling sessions, support groups, door-to-door outreach efforts, and engaging community campaigns with many more events.

The initiative is designed to provide individuals with tools for growth and resilience while fostering a culture of collective healing.

These include:

• Social media awareness campaigns: Leveraging digital platforms to educate and inspire.

“As December approaches, we’ve seen a troubling rise in cases where mothers leave their children unattended to visit taverns.

“Our awareness efforts will address this, stressing the importance of safeguarding children during this period.”

“In addition to gender-based violence awareness, the programme will observe World Aids Day on December 1, shedding light on HIV/Aids awareness and prevention.

“Discussions will encompass the physical, emotional, behavioural, and psychological impacts of the epidemic.”

The Community of Hope Multipurpose Centre encourages individuals to speak up and seek support.

“Remember, our doors are always open. We will be open throughout December,” Januarie said.
She added that people should stand up and speak out.

This initiative underscores the centre’s commitment to creating a safer, more compassionate community.

The public is encouraged to participate in the activities, helping to build a united front against violence and injustice.
