Club lets you shape up by making fitness the drug of choice

With a mission to shape the future of fitness in and around Windmill Park, Future Shapers Aerobics Club continues to inspire and uplift its community, one workout at a time.

In just three years, the Future Shapers Aerobics Club has become a beacon of health and wellness in the heart of Windmill Park.

Founded in 2021 by fitness enthusiast and life coach Ntokozo Mwelase, the club is a thriving community dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles and transforming lives, one workout at a time.

Operating from the Revelation of Christ Apostolic Mission Church, popularly known as Kwa-Bab’Buthelezi, the club offers aerobics, body conditioning workouts and core exercises for people of all ages.

Its inclusive approach ensures that men, women and children can participate in classes held Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 09:00 and 18:00 to 19:00.

Fitness as a family affair
Forgy Mokalapa, the club’s marketing and public relations officer, said they wanted to create a space where fitness became a family activity.

“Parents don’t have to miss workouts because of childcare. Kids join in and grow up seeing fitness as a natural part of life.”

She said the affordable rates – R150 for kids and R250 for adults – reflect their commitment to making fitness accessible to everyone.

Mokalapa said the journey hasn’t been without challenges.

“We started with just one member and the coach in a class. It took months of patience and consistency to grow. Today, the club boasts 84 members and continues to grow, proving that perseverance pays off.

Inspiring through action
Forgy pointed out that as the founder of the Future Shapers Youth Organisation, established in 2006, Mwelase has long been passionate about empowering young people in townships.

“Recognising the link between poor lifestyle habits and health issues, he integrated fitness into his life skills programmes.

“Our community faces many challenges, and we wanted to make healthy living as accessible as the negative influences many are exposed to,” Mwelase explained.

Beyond the daily classes, the club organises the annual Ekurhuleni Aerobics Festival, a wellness event uniting fitness enthusiasts, local clubs and community members.

“This event celebrates fitness and inspires attendees to embrace healthier lifestyles.”
