Christian Brothers College Boksburg’s ERS combats hunger with successful soup kitchen

Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg learners rolled up their sleeves to serve the community with a successful soup kitchen project.

Christian Brothers College (CBC) Boksburg’s Edmund Rice Society (ERS)  committee recently demonstrated the power of community spirit by organising a successful soup kitchen aimed at fighting hunger in Boksburg.

The ERS club is focused on social justice and community service.
The event, held on June 20, brought together learners, staff, parents and local businesses in a united effort to support those in need.

Sunay Joubert, a member of the ERS committee who helped co-ordinate the soup kitchen, described the event as an overwhelming success.
“We served a large number of people throughout the day and donated left-over soup to St Dominic’s Church for their soup kitchen. It was heartwarming to see the community come together like this.

“The success of the initiative was made possible through generous donations from several local businesses and the CBC community.”

“Parents and staff donated 334 loaves of bread, 174 rolls and 32 pots of soup.
