Hashtag 100 League ignites Boksburg with fast, fierce, and fun action
Hashtag 100 is flipping cricket on its head at Boksburg City Stadium. With 100-ball thrillers, live streaming, and teams made for speed and skill, this fresh league is uniting players and fans like never before.
Hashtag 100 Cricket League is rapidly emerging as the newest cricket sensation, bringing a fresh and exciting twist to the game at Boksburg City Stadium.
Launched on June 29 this year, the league is designed to unite the community through a fast-paced, social cricket format that combines thrilling on-field action with accessible live streaming and commentary.
Wayne van der Walt and Tyrone Panaino are the driving forces behind this innovative league.
Van der Walt, one of the founding members of the league, explains that the primary goal is to create a platform where players and fans alike can connect and enjoy cricket in a dynamic, inclusive environment.
“Hashtag 100 is not just about playing cricket; it’s about engaging the community and making the sport accessible and fun for everyone,” he said.
The league features a unique format of 100 balls per innings, divided into 20 overs of five balls each. With teams of eight players, matches are quick, competitive, and typically last around two hours. This format encourages active participation from all players while keeping the game fast and exciting.
“By shortening the game and reducing team sizes, we ensure everyone stays involved and matches remain engaging from start to finish,” Van der Walt added.
One of the league’s standout features is its strong commitment to accessibility and engagement.
Every game is live-streamed with professional commentary, enabling supporters to watch from their smartphones or other devices across all major social media platforms.
“This approach broadens the league’s reach and strengthens community support for local players. You never know, someone might be watching, spotting talent, and helping players get discovered and become stars.
“Our live streaming platform makes it easy for friends, family, and fans to follow the action wherever they are. This helps build a strong community spirit around our local cricket stars.”
