Women in uniform empowered through prayer
In celebration of Women’s Month, Boksburg Correctional Service hosted a powerful Women’s Empowerment Prayer Day on August 13, inspiring women in uniform to share stories, embrace faith, and rise above adversity.
Boksburg Correctional Service Management Area hosted a spiritually uplifting women’s empowerment Prayer Day in celebration of Women Month on August 13 at the Boksburg Correctional Service.
The event provided a platform for women in uniform to reflect, share personal stories, and strengthen their faith through the word of God. The prayer day was graced by representatives from sister departments, including the EMPD and Ekurhuleni Traffic Warden.
Deputy Director of EMPD, Supt Lebo Sebudi opened the event with a prayer, interceding for the success of the day’s activities. She also took a moment to remember women and officials who have fallen in the line of duty, lighting a candle in their honour.

The area commissioner of Boksburg Management Area, Tebogo Mabena welcomed attendees, emphasising the importance of faith in both personal and professional lives.
“Not even women can accomplish anything without God. This is a call for women to pray and break all strongholds, especially us in uniform, due to the dangers inherent in our work.”


Area co-ordinator corporate services Kili Mnisi echoed the area commissioner’s sentiments in his speech, reminding women to pray constantly because of the unpredictable and often dangerous conditions they face daily.
“When you leave home in the morning, you do not know if you will return safely,” he said.

Pastor Lynette Ndaba, the event’s motivational speaker, shared her personal journey of resilience. She encouraged women to rise above adversity, offering four key principles: choose faith over fear, speak out against abuse, embrace sisterhood without gossip, and pursue personal growth through education and skill development.
Ndaba further highlighted the importance of faith, resilience, and action. She further referenced a bible verse, reminding attendees that “goodness and mercy shall follow.”
