Fitness fanatic turns rebounding into a nationwide movement
This Women’s Month, Boksburg entrepreneur Ilse Engelbrecht is taking fitness to new heights.
In celebration of Women’s Month, we shine a spotlight on Ilse Engelbrecht, a 40-year-old fitness entrepreneur from Parkrand, Boksburg, whose innovative approach to health and wellness is inspiring thousands across South Africa.
As the founder of Jump-Aholics SA, Ilse is helping people bounce their way to better health and happiness. Originally from Worcester in the Western Cape, Ilse now calls Boksburg home. With a background in personal training, nutrition, and a stint as a fitness director on international cruise ships, she discovered her true passion in 2021 when she became a certified rebounding instructor.
“Rebounding is not just exercise. It’s a fun, low-impact way to improve cardiovascular health, tone muscles, and boost energy. Once you start, you’re hooked, hence Jump-Aholics.”
Ilse said the journey began during the Covid-19 lockdown when she gained weight and sought a solution.
“I started rebounding at home, and the results were amazing. People kept asking me how I did it, and that’s when I realised I could share this with others.”

She said her first Jump-Aholics studio started in her backyard, and what began as a small project has grown into a thriving fitness empire.
“We started small, but the response was overwhelming. People loved it. Today, Jump-Aholics SA boasts over 30 studios nationwide, with plans to open a studio in New Zealand. Each studio operates on a franchise model, allowing individuals to own and manage their own fitness business under the Jump-Aholics brand.
“Our goal is not just to teach fitness. It’s to create a community where people feel motivated, supported, and empowered to reach their goals,” she said.

Ilse also promotes healthy nutrition alongside exercise.
“We offer pre- and post-workout products. They’re a perfect complement to rebounding, helping clients recover, boost energy, and fuel their bodies.
Jump-Aholics classes are not only great for fitness, they also support community building.
The fitness enthusiast added that they also host fundraisers when there is a need and they incorporate rebounding exercises at schools and team-buildings for workplaces.
“It’s about connecting people while having fun and staying healthy.”
What is rebounding and its benefits?
“Rebounding is more than just jumping on a mini-trampoline. It boosts circulation, supports natural detox processes, sculpts your core, and tones your muscles.
“It works your legs, strengthens your bones, and increases endurance, all while being gentle on the joints.”

Ilse went on to say that every class at Jump-Aholics is designed to make fitness enjoyable.
“Whether you want to boost your energy, tone up, or just have a blast, we are here to guide you every hop of the way. Seeing people leave a class smiling and feeling strong is the best part of our job.”

Ilse is particularly proud of the accessibility of her programme.
“We also offer online classes, so anyone, anywhere, can join and experience the benefits of rebounding. Fitness can be joyful and accessible. With the right mindset, a little bounce, and good nutrition, anything is possible.”
