Tambo Memorial Hospital boosts patient care with third Digital X-Ray System
Tambo Memorial Hospital has installed its third state-of-the-art Control-X Perform C100 Digital X-Ray System, cutting patient waiting times and enhancing diagnostic accuracy.
Tambo Memorial Hospital has expanded its diagnostic imaging capabilities with the installation of a third Control-X Perform C100 Digital X-Ray system, officially commissioned on October 31.
This latest addition follows previous installations in October 2024 and January this year.
Zoliswa Nzeku, spokesperson for the hospital, said the Control-X Perform C100 is a state-of-the-art digital radiography system that delivers superior image quality while prioritising patient comfort and operational efficiency.
“Its advanced features include motorised movements and an ergonomic table, allowing gentle positioning for patients with limited mobility. The system’s automatic exposure control and innovative digital detectors reduce radiation dosage without compromising image clarity.
“For radiologists, the system provides high-resolution imaging that allows for the detection of subtle pathologies, supporting faster and more accurate diagnoses. Its rapid image acquisition and on-screen review capabilities improve workflow efficiency, reducing turnaround times and increasing departmental productivity.”

Nzeku said the upgrades have already shown a measurable impact.
“The Radiology Department, which previously aimed for a target patient waiting time of 60 minutes, now reports an average waiting time of just 40 minutes during peak hours.
“This improvement enhances the patient experience and facilitates quicker clinical decision-making, aligning with the Gauteng Department of Health’s six key priorities for healthcare service delivery.”

“By investing in modern, up-to-date equipment, we are enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency while ensuring that our community benefits from high-quality, patient-centred healthcare,” he said.
