Celebrate creativity at the first Ekurhuleni Kasi Bazaar in Benoni

The 1st Annual Ekurhuleni Kasi Bazaar is set to debut on December 6 at Crystal Park Primary School.

The event promises a vibrant mix of local products, networking opportunities and community engagement, providing a platform for emerging entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses.
Founded by Precious Msiza, an entrepreneur and former corporate professional from Crystal Park, the bazaar was inspired by her personal journey navigating the challenges of starting a business in township communities.

“When I left the corporate world in 2010, I noticed a huge gap in the market, particularly for young women trying to establish businesses. Many talented entrepreneurs struggle to break even because they lack exposure and the right marketing,” she explained.

Her idea behind the Kasi Bazaar is both simple and powerful as it creates a space where township businesses can gain visibility, engage directly with customers and grow without the high costs associated with traditional marketing.

Msiza credited her project manager, Anne van Wyk, for helping bring the concept to life and emphasised the importance of collaboration and experience.
“Vendors at the event can expect a diverse audience including families, working professionals and visiting businesspeople,” she said.

The organisers are anticipating between 3 000 and 5 000 attendees, offering entrepreneurs a significant opportunity to showcase their products and expand their networks.

“It’s exposure. People can see, touch and understand your product. You can interact with your customers in ways social media alone cannot offer,” Msiza added.

Beyond being a market, the Kasi Bazaar is designed as a learning and growth platform. Entrepreneurs will gain insight into the importance of versatility and innovation in today’s competitive business landscape.
“Business is evolving and you have to meet customers where they are. Platforms like this allow you to experiment, connect and grow your business in ways that a stall alone or an online presence cannot achieve,” she said.

Msiza added that such events foster mentorship and knowledge sharing.
“You never know where your next opportunity lies. Sometimes the person who buys your product or offers collaboration is someone you wouldn’t meet anywhere else.”

The 1st Annual Ekurhuleni Kasi Bazaar is part of a broader vision to celebrate local talent, support township businesses and create a yearly platform for entrepreneurs to thrive.
As Msiza concluded, “The key to success in business is showing up, learning and being part of a community that supports growth.”
