Women-led NPO calls for help to feed 100 vulnerable children

The aim is to provide much-needed nutrition and support to children in need.

A local NPO, Harvesters in Love, is calling on the community for support as it prepares to host a soup kitchen for vulnerable children in Daveyton this Saturday, June 6.

The organisation, a group of women from different parts of the city and registered with the Department of Social Development, aims to feed 100 children in the area and is appealing for donations to help make the initiative possible.

Items needed include:
• Meaty rump bones
• Vegetables
• Bread
• Polystyrene plates
• Plastic spoons
• Sweets and chips (for children to take home)

Harvesters in Love says any assistance from the public will be greatly appreciated as they work to provide meals and small care packages for children in need.

According to one of the event organisers, Cathy Bennett, the organisation has also hosted previous outreach initiatives in Primrose, Germiston, where dozens of children were fed and food hampers were distributed in November last year.

Community members and businesses willing to assist are encouraged to come forward ahead of the weekend. The aim is to provide much-needed nutrition and support to children in need.
For more information or to donate, you can contact Bennett on 071 612 5598.
