Network outage disrupts services at Boksburg Library
At the moment we don't have network access at the library due to a damaged fibre cable coming from the Boksburg Customer Care Centre.
Residents have expressed frustration after a network outage temporarily disrupted services at Boksburg Library.
Martin Williams contacted Boksburg Advertiser after his wife was unable to return borrowed books when she visited the library.
According to Williams, library staff informed her that the facility was offline and unable to process returns.
“My concern is beyond the inconvenience. The library plays an important role in the community, especially for children and residents who rely on its services during the winter holidays.
“We hope this problem is resolved soon so that everyone can continue making use of their services.”
In response to the concerns, the City of Ekurhuleni’s library director, Shelton Munisi, confirmed that the disruption was caused by a damaged fibre cable affecting the library’s network connection.

“At the moment, we don’t have network access at the library due to a damaged fibre cable coming from the Boksburg Customer Care Centre. We are still waiting for the ICT Department to resolve the network issues,” said Munisi.
He explained that to prevent the loss of books and other library resources, the library has temporarily suspended book issuance until the network is restored.
Munisi also extended his gratitude to Martin Williams for being an active resident who loves and cares for their resources.
“Active residents are important as they keep everything going. I think all of us should be more attentive and aware of the resources around us.”
Since the library is awaiting assistance from the ICT Department to resolve the problem, residents who plan to borrow or return library material are encouraged to contact the library before visiting until normal services resume, this can be done on 011 999 5402.
