Watch: East Rand Mall and JAM Clothing score big for local schools' football programmes

Learners at two primary schools in Boksburg received a welcome boost to their football programmes on July 24 when representatives from East Rand Mall and JAM Clothing visited the schools to donate soccer kits, as part of the mall’s FIFA World Cup campaign, which ran from June 11 to July 18.
To conclude their campaign, they visited New Comet Primary School and Goedehoop Primary School, where they officially handed over soccer kits to support young footballers and encourage participation in sport.
Throughout the campaign, shoppers enjoyed weekly live SubSoccer matches hosted by participating tenants, celebrating the excitement of football.
JAM Clothing East Rand Mall also sponsored a shopper competition in which visitors had to guess how many soccer balls were displayed in a glass cabinet at the mall, with winners walking away with soccer balls.
East Rand Mall marketing manager Tshepiso Kgowana said the campaign was about making a meaningful impact beyond the shopping centre.
“While the campaign brought football excitement to our shoppers, we also wanted to leave a positive legacy in our community. Visiting these schools and seeing the learners’ enthusiasm was incredibly rewarding. We hope these soccer kits inspire them to enjoy the game, work together as a team and continue striving for their goals,” she said.
JAM Clothing representative Ceaan Lyon said the retailer was proud to be part of an initiative that invests in young people.
“Football has the power to unite and inspire, and we’re honoured to help equip these learners with the resources they need to enjoy the sport. We hope these kits encourage every child who wears them to play with confidence, pride and determination,” said Lyon
New Comet Primary School principal Lawrance Marapjane thanked the sponsors for supporting the school’s football programme.
“Receiving these soccer kits is a wonderful gift for our learners. It shows them that members of the community believe in their abilities and are willing to invest in their future. We sincerely thank East Rand Mall and JAM Clothing for their generosity,” he expressed.
Goedehoop Primary School principal Patricia Peters said the donation would motivate learners to continue pursuing their sporting dreams.
“This thoughtful donation will go a long way in boosting our learners’ confidence and school pride. We are grateful to East Rand Mall and JAM Clothing for making such a meaningful contribution to our young athletes,” said Peters
East Rand Mall will retain the SubSoccer attraction for future events, including PSL match days, to create excitement among shoppers and tenants, allowing them to play and win exciting prizes.
