Be aware of upcoming Rand Water maintenance interruptions

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead of the water interruption.

Rand Water has announced that its team will embark on proactive extensive maintenance during the winter months to improve the reliability and efficiency of its water infrastructure.

The work will start on June 22 and continue until July 29.

According to the schedule, these Boksburg areas may experience low to no water pressure from 08:00 to 16:00 on July1: Impala Park, Witkoppie Ridge, Beyerspark, Westwood, Anderbolt, Ravenswood, Bartlett, Bardene, Atlasville, Jet Park, Parkhaven and Klipoortjie. Parts of Klipoortjie will also be left without water from 18:00 on June 28 to 02:00 on June 30.

The metro will provide roving water tankers for the duration of the maintenance period.

“Proactive infrastructure maintenance is important to preserve the quality and integrity of the infrastructure, reduce maintenance costs in the long term and increase the life span of the infrastructure and assets,” explained Rand Water.

“A maintained water infrastructure ensures uninterrupted water supply for the current and future generation. “We have a solid asset management strategy, which provides a focused approach to manage technical maintenance and asset lifecycle, and maximise the value and advantage of our assets.”

Rand Water pointed out that it conducts two kinds of infrastructure and asset maintenance: proactive (planned) and unplanned.

“To ensure the reliability of our infrastructure during the higher demand summer season, Rand Water plans its maintenance during the low water demand season in winter and/or during the December holiday season.

“We have notified our municipal customers about the upcoming maintenance project to ensure they have a 21-day period to plan, put contingency plans in place, manage storage capacity and inform their customers.”
