UPDATE: Power restored in some parts of Boksburg

Cason and the Anderbolt industrial area remain off due to extensive damage caused to the cables.

The City of Ekurhuleni says power supply has been restored in most of the areas that were left in the dark when the Anderbolt substation in Boksburg caught fire on Wednesday.

Beyers Park, Boksburg North, Ravenswood and Eveleigh had their electricity supply restored at 17:00 yesterday (October 17).

Only Cason and the Anderbolt Industrial area remain off due to extensive damage caused to the cables. Although the city had hoped to restore the power to these areas by 12:00 today, further damage was discovered during the restoration process, thus forcing the technicians to push the restoration time to  around 12:00 tomorrow.

Customers are urged to treat electrical networks as live while work is ongoing.

The city apologises for the inconvenience caused
