Technicians race to restore power to Boksburg suburbs after midnight outage

Several Boksburg areas remain without electricity after a midnight outage, with repairs underway and restoration expected by this afternoon.

Technicians from the City of Ekurhuleni are currently on site working to restore power to several suburbs in Boksburg after an outage that occurred shortly after midnight.

The disruption was caused by a trip at the Les Smith substation.
The power interruption is affecting Sunward Park, Farrar Park, Parkrand, the Boksburg CBD, Freeway Park, Van Dyk Park, Libradene, and surrounding areas.

Repairs are underway, and the electricity supply will be gradually restored once all work has been completed. The estimated time for full restoration is 13:00 this afternoon.

Residents are urged to treat all electrical outlets and connections as live while repair operations continue.
The city has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
