Bartlett accountant turns author

Vibashni wanted to prove to herself that she could publish a book.

Vibashni Naidoo of Bartlett believes the success of her debut novella, Ranisha’s Story: Beyond the Celestial Garden, will lead to more romantic stories flowing from her pen.

Besides her logical side, Vibashni has a creative side too. She can pull different romantic stories into one and her inspiration is fuelled by her achievements.

“When I worked as an accountant, I was promoted to senior accountant in 2008.

“This inspired me to write for the first time. I could not complete my story due to the pressures of the corporate world and my demanding job.

“During lockdown in 2021, I decided to complete my book. I am the type of person who has to complete what I started.

“My story changed during Covid, but I did not want to lose the first story I wrote, so I put the two into one book.

“My main challenge was proving to myself that I could actually publish a book.

“I’m more of a numbers person so I’m glad there are editors to assist in correcting my grammar,” she added.

Vibashni explains the book is about Ranisha and her journey through life, specifically her love life.
“She goes through ups and downs with the two men in her life.

“She is a bubbly character and makes fun of these guys. The ups and downs of her life keep the reader guessing what will happen next.

“I was successful in doing this so that the story is not boring. It makes the reader want to know what happens next. And then, to their surprise, I added twists to the story to make it more intriguing.

“My book has a philosophical air to it, too. I enjoy gardening and have created a scene of how gardening helped Ranisha overcome her hardship.

“At a point in my life when I was feeling down, my husband bought me plants, and I discovered a love for gardening.

“The feedback I have received about the book from some readers is that the storyline is interesting and characters well portrayed.”

Vibashni has already written part two of the story.

“I still need the book edited,” she said.

Ranisha’s Story: Beyond the Celestial Garden is available on Amazon.

Vibashni’s advice to aspiring writers: “Write from the heart. Always remain positive and tell yourself you can do this.”
