Nico Phooko, a multi-award-winning visual artist from Parkrand, will perform alongside Andile Yenana at the Margate Art Museum in Kwa-Zulu Natal on March 31.
Phooko recently completed a three-day tour in South Africa.
He has been live painting for over three decades on big live performance stages across the world.
His paintings which are presented at the end of the show, unfold an event on a canvas.
Phooko has painted live on stage with some of Africa’s well-known musicians, such as Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Ringo Mandlingozi, Joe Nina, Bongo Maffin and a host of traditional and jazz musicians across South Africa and abroad.

“I started painting live on stage in 1996, alongside a live music performance by a duo called BLKSonshine. The duo consists of a local brother Neo Muyanga and a brother from New York City, Masauko Chipembere,” he said.
“We started in intimate venues and ended in big concerts and gigs.
“I have also been invited to paint live on stage and grace prestigious events with my brushes and paints.”
Phooko has also artistically captured events such as A tribute to Samora Machel, painting alongside world-renowned musicians and politicians who came to honour the life of the late former president of Mozambique.
He presented the painting to Graça Machel, her husband, Dr Nelson Mandela and the Machel family.
