A Bolt driver has won over R1m playing poker at Carnival City and plans to use the money to expand his vehicle fleet.
Tables shift manager Justice Madiba said the lucky Sun International MVG guest, who asked not to be named, won the progressive jackpot of R1,3m in the early morning hours of March 8.
It was the second notable win for the man, a regular at Carnival City since 2001.
“In January last year, I won R162 000 on the Lady Luck machine and have also won bingo three times,” said the man, who has a wife and four children.
“With my winnings, I plan to buy another two cars to use in e-hailing, which will create jobs for unemployed people,” he said.
The winner said he was “overwhelmed but nervous at the same time” when he opened his cards, especially the last card, which made him a winner.
“I usually play the blackjack tables, and yesterday I insisted on playing Magic Poker.
“My words to other players who are not winning is that we all have chances, and we cannot all win on the same day.”
