City Improvement Project forges ahead with good results

CIP will continue to clean different areas in Boksburg throughout the year.

As part of the ongoing initiative to restore the city, the City Improvement Project (CIP) cleaned parts of the Boksburg CBD on April 1.

They tackled a parking lot on Trichardts Road and a park on the corner of Claim and Gracht streets.

Marius de Vos, an executive committee member of CIP, said since the launch of the initiative, they have held a number of clean-up initiatives and filled potholes.

“The project has yielded good results, especially around the post office and the taxi rank.

“Some businesses have adopted their streets and they keep the pavements clean. I would like to encourage residents to do likewise, adopting streets and parks in their neighborhoods.”

De Vos added that they have recently forged a partnership with the roads department to enhance road maintenance work.

“Our top priority, includes intensifying our clean-up campaigns, fighting crime and patching potholes. We are also looking into the installation of CCTV cameras in key areas around Boksburg.

“We also want to ensure that every property or building complies with the city’s safety regulations and standards. These include compliance with the zoning ordinance.”

CIP member Leroy Slava pointed out that Boksburg was once among the most visited destinations by tourists, and their aim is to change the current state of affairs to return the city to its former glory.
