A race to be hosted for a good cause
The walkers and runnners must be prepared to wear their walking and running shoes on Freedom Day.
The Reiger Park SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit in partnership with the community members of Reiger Park will be celebrating Freedom Day by hosting a 2,5km and 5km book walking and running races.
Both the walking and running races will start at 07:30 on April 27.
According to the Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Constable Johannes Msimanga, people who want to take part in the races are required to bring books or pay an R20 participation fee.
“Our aim with hosting the races is to collect books and donate them to various schools around Reiger Park to promote a reading culture in the area,” said Msimanga.
The races will start at WJ Clement Stadium, then the runners and walkers will join Goedehoop Street, thereafter turn on Sunny Street and go all up to Erica Street, they will join Clarence September Street. Thereafter they will turn on David France Street then go all the way to join Abraham Foster Street and come back to join Goedehoop Street.
