Fundraising initiative yields good results
The fundraiser went well and most of the people came with their well mannered dogs.
Rotek Dog Training Club and IGP Club raised R10 270 during their potjiekos and fun-dog competition fundraiser for 2023 Meisterschaft, on June 25.
The chairperson of Rotek Dog Club, John Swartz, said their main aim was to raise funds to host the prestigious event, KUSA IGP Meisterschaft that will be taking place from August 3 to 6 at the Goldfields Kennel Club in Bedfordview.
“We will also use the money to pay for aeroplane tickets, accommodation and meals for the international judge and helper, as well as the two local helpers who will assist at the event.
“Our fundraiser exceeded our expectations. Dog clubs and owners came in numbers to support the initiative,” said Swartz.
He said it was their first time hosting such a big event. “It is the brainchild of one of our honourable club members, Caroline van Deventer. We are planning to have the second initiative, a doggy fun day, in September.
Thank you to the sponsors for the fantastic prizes.”
A potjiekos competition was also held. It was won by the K9 Sport GSD Club.
Bruce Paterson from K9 Sport GSD said he didn’t expect to win the competition but is very glad he did.
“I enjoyed myself and I’m sure that even our dogs enjoyed themselves here today,” he concluded.
GSD of North West settled for third place.
