In the light of Clean-Up and Recycle SA Week (September 16 to 21), the Boksburg Advertiser spoke to a few community members about recycling.

Andriel Molobela (Delmore Gardens): I do sort out cans and bottles to put out for recyclers. It’s important to recycle because it keeps the community safer and cleaner. Recycling is something we should all do.
Eric Stolz (Marlands): It’s important to recycle because it’s good for the environment. My son used to take 2l bottles to school for recycling, and got awards from time to time for bringing the most bottles.
Phillip Labuscghagne (Brakenhurst): I separate plastic and cardboard for people to collect. The company that I work for also recycles. Furthermore, I see a big issue when it comes to lithium batteries because they are not recyclable. People should be aware of these things.
Rayleen Naidoo (Witfield): “I don’t recycle. It’s not that I’m ignorant, and it’s something that I’m willing to do. There are just not a lot of opportunities to recycle. There should be bins at places such us malls and shopping centres.
Tina Loots (Gertview): I recycle because I don’t like wasting. As a business owner, I put all our glass bottles in a bin, which a man and women collect once a week. They recycle the glass, and the money they make goes towards an animal welfare organisation.
